Prayers of Confession and Prayers of the People:

     –Lift up to God prayers for those are with their mothers today.

     -Lift up to God prayers for those who mourn the death of their mothers or children.   

     -Lift up to God prayers for those who play with their kids today.

     -Lift up to God prayers for those who long to have children.

     -Lift all these prayers up to God.

Assurance of Pardon:

      Here the good news.  Mother’s Day is a day of great joy and also a day of great sadness.  We remember those who are estranged from their parents or children.  We remember those who wish to be mothers or grandmothers but they cannot.  We remember those who are loved by their biological or adopted mothers.  We recognize the pain and joy but we know that God is present with us through it all.  Through Jesus Christ we are forgiven and restored.  AMEN.
