Down by the Creek – September 2015

From the Pastor’s Desk

Dear Friends,ACPC-drwing-HiRes

As August comes to a close there are lots of people and activity around Allison Creek that I am thankful for. There has been an amazing surge around ACPC of ministry.

The Kathy Kitts Memorial Track has been completed. Next to be added in September will be trees that are being donated by Steve Penland. These trees will provide shade and a positive environmental impact. An entrance to the track will also be created. Thanks to David and Lorre Coone for coordinating and to Tommy Cook, Dean Marsh, Foster Jackson, and Pete Lynn for their work on the track.

A new “smart” television has been donated to the church by the Learn Bravely Home School Cooperative. This TV is in the video room and has been donated for church use.

The Preschool staff has painted the Fellowship Hall. Their work will benefit the church’s many ministries.

Thanks to Bubba Parker for building a new shelf for the TV in the Parlor. No longer will the DVD player have to rest on old books.

Thanks to Bob Geis for repairing the water fountain. Now children and adults can enjoy fresh water. The Sanctuary columns have now been repaired. No more chipped paint as you enter the Sanctuary.

Thanks to all of our teachers who are sharing their faith through the Christian Education classes that they are teaching. Thanks to our lead teachers; Tracy McCarter, Judy Currence, Christina Geis, Mark & Chris Klippel, Nicole Boyd, and Lindsay Capistran. We also have others who are helping out as subs.

Thanks to Jane Finch for coordinating School Supplies again this year. See inside for a thank you note from one family that received items from ACPC.

It is with sadness that we have received the resignation of Patti Kirkman as Sexton. Patti and Ken have served ACPC well for about 20 years. The Session is appreciative to Tracy McCarter who will serve as our interim Sexton.

Blessings, Sam

Devotional: Luke 5:27-32
“Jesus saw a tax collector named Levi and said to him, ‘follow me.’ He got up, left everything, and followed. Then Levi gave a great banquet and invited his tax collector friends. Some Pharisees were complaining that Jesus was eating with them. Jesus answered, ‘I have come to call not the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

* The redevelopment of the 23 acres of church property is connecting to people who have not been involved in a faith community before.

  • How does this Scripture guide our actions?
  • Who is God calling you to reach out to that may not appear very “righteous?”
