Dear Friends,

The Session has now given final approval for the redevelopment of the 23 acres of Allison Creek Church property. Work will begin soon on the following projects:

  • A ¼ mile walking track on the ball field to be built in memory of Kathy Kitts. This track will provide a place for the public to exercise in a safe and secure location.
  • Trees planted around the exterior of the walking track. These trees are being donated for this project and our local fire station has volunteered to provide initial watering.
  • Clearing of debris from woods around ball field. This will provide area for picnic tables and for shade during soccer games.
  • Parking lot to accommodate up to 40 vehicles in corner of ball field. This will provide additional parking for church, preschool and accommodate pine straw trailers.
  • “Welcome Center” at edge of parking lot next to intersection of Hwy 274 and Allison Creek Road. This area will include sitting areas and a cross incorporating panes from the old sanctuary windows. This is a Boy Scout Eagle project.
  • A walking path beginning at the cemetery and meandering through the woods. This path will include a labyrinth and other prayer stations. The labyrinth will be a Boy Scout Eagle project. The theme along the path will be “remember, repent, and renew.”

In addition to these projects, the following projects will also be completed:

  • New columns in front of sanctuary. This work will be paid from the Building Fund.
  • New air conditioning unit for youth room that died after 33 years of service. This will be paid from the Building Fund.
  • Painting of Fellowship Hall. This will be done by the Preschool staff.
  • New flat screen television for video room. This will be funded by Learn Bravely Homeschool Cooperative.

As you can see, there is a lot that is happening. All of these projects are the result of people connected to this church initiating these projects on their own. If you see a need then contact me or a member of Session.

Blessings, Sam

Devotional: Luke 5:37-38

“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled,
and the skins will be destroyed. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”

In Jesus’ day, wine was produced by placing the beverage into a new goatskin. As the beverage fermented the
goatskin would expand due to the released gases. When the goatskin was empty it was no longer useful.

Jesus calls us to continue to spread the good news of God’s love, grace, and mercy. We must be open to new
ways of sharing this message. We are called to look at the world in fresh ways.

  • How will the redevelopment of the 23 acres help us to share the good news in fresh ways?
  • How are you being called to be a part of this new wineskin?
